These are very practical questions being answered about local marketing. Good read if you have local clients.
Mike is one of few people I trust and follow in local search arena.
Fantastic. Mike is a great resource for everything local. Thanks for sharing.
Amir, any specific area that specifically interested you in the article?
I found questions related to directories and links especially helpful. That's something many local SEOs and businesses try to ignore lately, unfortunately, being afraid of algo updates. Info here clears the air.
So naturally, I haven't gotten through the whole thing yet (as he suggests) but what I find particularly interesting is his take on trying to get local links as part of your back link portfolio. I recently changed positions from a full e-commerce company to one that has retail stores as part of it's offerings. I hadn't really thought about the local aspect of link building.
Not sure how much detail Mike goes into it with this post specifically but in his Mozinar he went over some really game changing ways to get reviews by incorporating them into point of sale and making it easy as possible for those who want to leave positive reviews (because it's getting to be a pain in the ass)
Oh, and I like everything else :)
Thanks Mike. Can't wait to dig in and read. But since it's from you, already know it's great! So off to share with the local community.
This is killer info.
I like some of the clarification on creating citations, or about businesses that have a "service area" and trying to rank for all the cities in your service area, short answer is you can't in maps. It reaffirms a massive project I've been working on with a client. We can still get traditional organic listings to rank (small cities/neighborhoods in particular).
Also, I love some of the examples of creating localesque pages for you site.

WOW.... Mike you kick butt with this post! So much good information all in one spot. Thanks for putting your time and effort into this post as it will easily become an industry resource.
