I did some analytics over the summer and found an increase in mobile and tablet viewership and decided to go with a responsive theme. It was nowhere near a majority but I decided to get a jump on it. The results so far are increased mobile viewers and I have been getting lots of good feedback on the new design. It's time for sites to shed the bling and get back to readability, and get ready for the mobile/tablet takeover.

I think of it as a uniform experience across multiple platforms and screens (including desktop) rather than takeover, but agree :)

Yeah takeover makes it sound like a bad thing, and it's not. I too read more websites on my Kindle Fire than anywhere else, and quite frequently on my phone, which makes me read more. By providing these extra avenues for people to view your site the end result almost has to be more readership!

My two cents... May want to think about adjusting the font size for large screen media queries. The font is perfect for tablets and mobile use.

Michael, I don't know if any Distlled ppl will check here so I'd recommend that you put some specific feedback in comments on their page:

Their team is very flexible and will appreciate your feedback :)

Noted, thanks guys. Would be cool to have it different font sizes for different browsers/screen sizes. The idea was to ship it, then iterate as we go.

    We really appreciate the feedback!

The new blog design is totally sick! A message to how responsive design should be done.
