commit: 6b2ca8a - #414 (2014-03-05 12:54:44 -0500)
Whole post could have easily been summed up in a paragraph or two. They should have been hit by Penguin 1.0.
Yeah it seems like most of the post was a not so subtle promotion for the tool - but there is some good takeaways as well, just have to dig for them.
This part was interesting "The answer of the question is NO. On the contrary: cheapoair.com has too many links from related topic websites compared to its competitors. Again, to make sure not to be a victim of Google’s Updates it is essential (!!!) to compare all factors of your link profile with your competitors. As you can see in this case, too many topic related links can be the reason why cheapoair.com got hit by Penguin 2.0."Does everyone agree that it's possible to be attracting 'too much' interest from sites within your niche? It seems like a strange concept to me that Google would even really care about 'competitors' unless one was obviously natural - if an entire industry was spammy and one was natural (and as a result had more 'travel' links to use this example) it seems weird that Google would consider that to be an outlier and therefore worthy of penalising.
