This is one of the most important posts about our industry that you'll read all week. Whether or not you go to or follow technical conferences, speaker choice affects you. That's because it affects the content that our industry talks about, the content that gives us new ideas, and the ideas that lead us to change.
I want to do my part to make this better. I've taken The Atlantic's pledge not to speak on any panel that doesn't also include a female speaker. But that's not nearly enough, nor is mentoring, nor is going the extra mile to help recommend and recruit fantastic female speakers for the conferences I'm involved in.
I'd love your ideas for what else I can do to make a difference here.
