THis is a long awaited development, and perhaps Google is realizing that they have been hurting G+ participation by limiting the benefit brands can harvest by stymying their ability to genuinely communicate.
I agree Jeremy. They seem to be trying to re-jump start Pages. It's only been a few weeks since the intro of Communities, with the shocker that Pages could create communities and participate in others' communities.
I just want them to add communities to the G+ app for Android...
Didn't realize they hadn't. Very odd that iOS got Communities before Android. Usually the other way around.
It's annoying because it gives you notifications about comments on your Community posts, but there's no way to post to the community other than by reply.
Are you sure? It took me a while to find it on the iPhone app. You have to go to the Community, then tap at the top where it says "All Posts" and select the subtopic you want to post to.
In the Droid app, the side menu to switch from your primary stream to Hangouts, Events, Messenger etc is missing Communities, so not possible to go to All Posts or subtopics :(
Wow. I can't believe they gave Communities to iOS before Android.
