Now this was cool.. clever Dejan...
btw I loled at the cat
If you loled at the cat then I consider my article a success.
By the way the downloads have gone up to 8,340 since I published the article.
lol, cat lol is a success!
I should do this with movies. I have a client that this would be perfect for. Gold!
Pretty clever. Probably results in lots of "noise" links and lots of unlinked URLs. I wouldn't do it with a newer domain since most torrent sites are covered in porn/viagra/etc. and probably have low trust metrics, but would be interesting to test on a more established one. Interested to see a follow up post.
Roger that, I'll annotate my analytics to this point so I can compare if there are any effects (even if for niche search terms). One thing I did notice is that suddenly I started receiving more organic traffic for exactly the documents which were distributed (e.g. Is Google Skynet?). This is me observing live analytics.
Upvoted: taught me something (easy step) and it's original (harder one)
Brilliant. Love to se the follow up article on this!
Dan, the strategy itself is golden. You've got me brainstorming for ways to monetize.
This is one of my favourite articles of the year. I can't wait for the wrap-up in a few weeks!
