commit: b67d552 - hire banner add for jobs on other sites (2014-04-23 08:56:43 -0400)
So, if you consider this post is a good one, why don't you apply into your website? http://goo.gl/BSXKUB Captchowned!
Thanks Javier, After reading today's moz post. I realized the actual value of CAPTCHA and how to use it and where I'm dripping out. Thanks to tim for this fabulous post.
I've already planned to work
out on it :) Thanks
I totally agree with this, so many people bounce if they see a captcha I have so much data to back this up.
I have one high end site where a conversion is $30k+ and we were seeing 10-20 leads a month no captcha with captcha 5-10 leads per month.
"Akismet provides an effective defence that has no impact upon your users."
Wait, what? Akismet is so broken that I was spending 45 minutes per day wading through spam and fishing legitimate comments from our spam list, and this is *after* spending time tweaking it as best as possible.
I see CAPTCHAs used on sites that can't possibly be receiving enough bot traffic to make its use worthwhile. When did it become standard to force your users to undergo a test before they can give you money?
This reminds me of Verified by Visa and other "security" features, which can kill conversion rates but are seen as a positive thing by some etailers (http://www.practicalecommerce.com/articles/4059-Are-Verified-by-Visa-and-MasterCard-SecureCode-Conversion-Killers-). Personally, both CAPTCHAs and Verified by Visa make me want to pull out my hair and run to the nearest competitor.
Agreed, makes sense. If you want more conversions, minimize the number of steps it takes a visitor to convert. Minimalistic is the way to go and the data backs this up.
