Yep. Yep, yep, yep.
Way to provide value with that comment, Danny.
Really interesting post. I did a few test queries for "seo companies" - the results are pretty interesting. Not logged into my Google account: http://imgur.com/mjNes Logged into my Google account: http://imgur.com/OXowV I'm following Rand on Google+, therefore his results are likely relevant and displayed to me when I'm logged in. It's also interesting how although I'm not following Tyson Hymas, his Google+ avatar is still shown because he's one of the rel="author" values set on the page.
The fact that anyone in this industry can thumbs down this post shows there really are some delusional, confused people out there. Wil's only summing up what everybody already knows: Google is broken.
I think it's maybe more the case that people expect miracles from what is in essence, a computer algorithm. By it's very nature it must run on rules - I'm sure google would be glad to hear recommendations on improving their latent semantic analysis if you have some though?
Amazing post and quite some truths there!
Yeah, this is going on for years. Google can't get its results right. They don't practice what they preach.
I want to +1 this article a million times.
