I'm sure someone knows the answer to this, but is Google able to tell if a site is responsive?
James, I've tested this and Google doesn't seem to be able to tell. Regular Google bot crawls the site as it is a desktop site. With the smartphone crawler, it previews it at 640px or so (iPhone's resolution with retina display). My best guess is that it understands the CSS for that resolution -- so it should be able to tell which elements are hidden for mobile... More in my upcoming YouMoz (next week).
