Designing social proof is good. Having social proof is even better. The examples in the post above could be easily manipulated, nobody can really check them. Real social proof is about things you can really prove, numbers or reviews you can look up on third party sites. The AdAge badge is such a proof. The number of subscribers to your blog. Testimonials of real people using their names and linking back to their websites.
