Yup... good agencies sure hate it when they get inundated with potential customers...
I've actually heard lots of agency heads say they avoid ranking for their brand so Moosa isn't wrong. The logic is often that they either have full calendars so can't take on more work or want to weed out the low value accounts and only take on bigger projects (which they'll gain through more than just SEO for their key terms).
At Koozai we do go after key terms and treat our own brand like any other SEO project (with a separate project manager, budget and goals) but I can certainly see why some agencies don't.
Mike for some straight keywords like “SEO” or “SEO Agency” the ROI is tons of low quality clients (I guess Chris Dyson will agree!) so its use less to get in to tons of low quality clients specially when the calendar as you said is full.
