Great to see Todd blogging again. I consumed all of this content when I first got into SEO. A lot of what I have read sense has been rehashed version of what he wrote about.
This is a GREAT interview. I love this extract from Aaron in relation to market research:
"Lastly I would say one also needs to get their head out of the spreadsheets and competitive research tools & look at the actual search results too. A keyword that isn’t too competitive (inside a market research tool) might not be too valuable when you look at the search results and see that extended AdWords ads & various vertical search offerings essentially displace the organic search result set."
I was lucky enough to have a call with Garrett French where he took me through his process for link research and how he looked through the actual SERPs for intent. It taught me spend time in the actual SERPS rather than buried inside of the data when doing any type of research.
