Isn't the point of a job title, mostly, something to leverage for business respect? Internally it doesn't really matter because the hierarchy is defined there. So if we use something like "inbound", I feel like it could be devalued to other people in the community because of that, and the "SEO" experience we've gained could be devalued. What if Justin was nominated for the Director of SEO at Amazon but because it said "Inbound", they think he had more "loose" SEO experience instead of strong SEO experience? That's a possibility. But the other side of the coin is "Inbound Marketing" could allow him to jump to a "Director of Marketing" position more easily because of his broader experience in marketing. It really depends on what you're going for with a career. But I think these titles allow us to leverage our external respect how we would like (whether or not that's appropriate is up for debate).
