commit: 6b2ca8a - #414 (2014-03-05 12:54:44 -0500)
Yes, content truly is king.
It's worth reading Matt Cutts' comments below the post, for example "we can adjust the impact but we wanted to start at one level and then we can modify things appropriately."
The reality of the matter is - the best information about how the update has effected the SERPs in the next 24-48 hours will be some of the "blackhat" hangouts.
Has anyone seen/experienced any recoveries?
I was pretty shocked when Matt said that previous versions of Penguin only targeted homepages. Was this comment already out in the wild and I just miseed it lol?
I don't think it was out there but most have noticed it was easier to target inner pages Vs homepage since P1.0
A quick glance at say "payday loans online" shows 3 week old link spam and 4-5 page content sites dominating....ok?
Mozcast will be a good place to get a quick overview of the effect, but it'll certainly be an interesting next week to see what comes out, whether any "big brand" site get hit etc
Let's not forget Serpmetrics and serps.com - different indexes have different focuses.
I found social media accounts URL apperaing more in search results
