I really hate the use of the phrase "Wordpress Hosting Comany" that is like saying "Sirius Radio Car" or "Showtime Channel Televisions"
Nice article. Just checked and it was very useful.
Interesting article. When I think of most of the companies in that list, I think of cheaper, more affordable hosting providers that happen to support the ability to host WordPress. What I'd really like to see is a test and comparison of hosting providers that are designed only for hosting WordPress, like WPEngine and Synthesis. For example, WPEngine has WordPress specific hosting features, like having caching built in (no need for W3 Total Cache plugin).
Yes I really agree with that. Also as I commented on the post about - I think if you are going to benchmark hosting you need to do it over the course of a week to account for things like weekends/rush hour/etc. I know Godaddy serves up files at 4am much differently than 6pm!
Good post, and it reinforces what we see; a lot of people blaming their host for slow load times. In some cases this is true, but the majority of latency and load time issues are due to excessive plugins and/or bloated WP themes that slow things down. We've been simplifying our sites lately and have seen a big improvement in load times, regardless of host.
Great to see a post that wasn't written as a means to stuff in affiliate links, too.
Thanks for sharing. This one's a really helpful to those who are looking for impartial performance evaluation of the major hosting companies. Hopefully, they'll add more hosting companies in their future tests. I was a bit disappointed HostGator didn't perform well.
