DA has little to do with the quality of a website.... at least when it comes to link removals. Quality should be based on the articles and integrity of the editors.
The answer is No. I was just reviewing a list of social bookmarks someone acquired. If you just looked at PageRank, Domain Authority, MozTrust, etc the sites would of easily passed. But if you looked at the websites and saw all the spam or looked at what keywords those sites where, or in most cases not ranking for then you'd see those are probably not sites you should be participating on.
It would be nice if SEOmoz made a spam score. Based upon your internal links and externals the likelihood you are being considered a spamy site.
I actually believe (and someone please correct me if I am mistaken) that I once read that SEOmoz has such a metric in development or is planning on developing this metric. I do wish I had a source to site. My apologies if I have fabricated this, but I honestly do not believe I have.
Correct! We're working on a metric like this, though there's been substantive pushback from the SEO community. You can read more about it here: https://plus.google.com/111294201325870406922/posts/gbeKneoTDh8
Yeh, I saw that post awhile back. I don't get what the big deal is. It's not like you're manually outing spam and telling Google they should penalize a site.
You're just using an algorithm to guess at what stuff Google has already marked as spam. You're not determining what is spam, you're trying to guesstimate at whether Google considers something spam. I really doubt that Google is going to start penalizing sites based on SEOmoz's algorithm. :-P
Sounds very helpful to me.
Sorry to hear about the pushback. I can understand where they are coming from but at the same time if you're doing good SEO this metric should only help you.
