Jonathon is spilling all his "content strategy" bookmarks on us...
He once again proven the importance of information architecture (IA) in marketing, work, life...
B e a u t i f u l !
Nice collection of books in the posts... I'm going to buy a few for the team. Thanks Jonathon!
Many thanks, folks - and thanks to Jason for posting! That guy's got the fastest trigger in the West.
Would love some feedback and your thoughts on the content marketing vs. content strategy discussion. Did that make any sense?
Jonathon - thank you so much for listing these resources in one concise place! I've started a folder in my browser bookmark bar, and it's grown significantly since reading this post.
As per the marketing vs. strategy discussion - correct me if I'm wrong, but can't we simplify that down to "DO vs. PLAN."
A lot of us on here know WHAT to do, but not HOW to do it. Getting things done is much more important than creating a big to-do list.
I agree that there's some cross-over between studying/planning and doing/implementing. That said, I don't want to discount the importance of studying the big picture of your organization's content -- including people, technology, and information -- in order to help content producers and marketers do better work that has great impact on customers.
That's pretty hard to do if you're always churning out content.
I'd add one more to the list: Content Marketing Institute (http://contentmarketinginstitute.com/).
These guys have it all - books, blog posts, and events! I've also found that they are much more tactical than they are theoretical. There are a lot less diagrams and a lot more tangible examples. Plus they have great interviews.
Yeah, I thought about them, but they really focus on content marketing/content marketing strategy, which is not the point of the list I put together.
That said, they're a great resource and I really like their Chief Content Officer magazine! http://contentmarketinginstitute.com/chief-content-officer/
Hey Jonathan, great list, thanks! One thing I wondered when looking at this: what are the *best* of the lot? All seem good, but would love to hear your opinion on which are the definitive, must-read blogs for content strategy.
Top 5 would be super helpful! (cc. Ross)
Ross & Robbie, I totally agree that it's a bit murky. Don't know if these following are the best, but they're very well-known and and influential in the field of content strategy... see what you think!

Wow. Great resource for sure. Thanks for this!
