Marketers crave quantifying social - so we can't blame the influencer number for trying. But as we become more sophisticated in our measurements and goals, I think these numbers will drop off. (Especially as so many people start gaming the numbers that they mean nothing.)
Followerwonk, in my opinion, has a much more accurate "influencer" metric - still worthwhile to check in on.
