I suspect this is like when YCombinator-funded startups get to the top of Hacker News because there's lots of fans there :-) Still, good piece, not submitted-by or externally promoted (to my knowledge) by anyone, so I'm leaving it be. And besides, I do think it's a great event :-)
I attended Linklove this year as well. It was beyond awesome. I highly recommend it. The presentations go way beyond the usual cliches you hear at these conferences. Give it a shot, you won't regret it.
I'll take all that as a "Good submission, thanks!" ;-) Honestly wasn't thinking about any potential conflicts here as the subject matter, by my estimation, was of general interest to all online marketers. The author doesn't have (so far as i know) any connection to the conference organizers apart from having attended. That said, i can see how this type of submission might be perceived as a conflict as you and Moz have a relationship w/Distilled and the event (correct me if I'm wrong). Worth updating the submission guidelines to address Distilled-related content specifically? Require statement of connection (or lack thereof) to the event/company?
