Loved. This. "Good SEO is the outcome of a disciplined, coherent marketing & technology strategy."
Love that point - and also the one that not following this line of thought meant we almost ruined SEO. I would be tempted to remove almost from that sentence though.
boom! "If we can make this happen, we’ll become a lot more valuable.<-- We’ll have more credibility. <-- We’ll have a little more room for error, where right now we have none. We’ll also become less of a headache and more of an all-around benefit to any organization. And our industry" <--
Loved this post, especially this quote: "Remember the meta keywords tag? Why did search engines stop using it? Probably because we stuffed keywords tags with all manner of ridiculousness. WE RUINED IT.".It's true. It's like microformats today. For example: Create a landing page for a dance course, we use the recipe microformat to increase visits (?). Fuck this!"The changes" in the post, I hope this could read it those that remain in the black hat seo.
I gotta say I don't think black hattery is a 'risk' to marketing the same way folks who disguise their lack of knowledge as 'white hat,' and then tell clients to use nofollow all over their web sites, or fling crappy content all over a web site. Black hat SEO isn't marketing - and I don't think any black hat would tell you it is. In the world of SERP manipulation, they're the honest ones.
