Congratulations to Dan on all his success in the SEO world this past year... and on all the hard work during the ~5 years that led up to it! One of the things that I really like about his post is that it goes against the grain of some of the current conversation about how you have to be one of the "cool kids" or part of the "inner circle" in order to break into SEO, speak at conferences, get big clients, or otherwise become well-known. I think Dan's clearly shown that it takes talent, time (esp. dedicated time), transparency and a desire to learn from others, and friendliness (sorry, couldn't think of another "T" word) to make all those things happen. In those ways, I think Dan represents a lot of what we all want to see in our industry as it evolves toward inbound marketing. I used Dan's great SEOmoz post on content at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/are-your-titles-irresistibly-click-worthy-viral as part of the training and documentation I created for copywriters at my workplace and am really looking forward to meeting him in person at MozCon this summer. Go, Dan, GO! :)
