The ridiculous Google+ URLs are a pain in the back for real. How many hypersmart Google engineers does it take to fix an URL?
The oatmeal redirect stunt seemed like a leaky way to announce friendly urls http://marketingland.com/ugly-urls-be-gone-google-opens-vanity-urls-for-certain-accounts-18787 That is welcome and overdue however if you're serious with our own domain then why not create a simple redirect like name dot com slash plus or slash +
I'm with you on that one! Perhaps they are too smart? Don't realise us mortals can't remember a 250 character string easily

Apparently they finally overcame the vanity URL problem: http://marketingland.com/ugly-urls-be-gone-google-opens-vanity-urls-for-certain-accounts-18787 It took the less than a year to bring them back! The old Google profiles had them already.
