While I appreciate this article you have to know that the Reddit audience is the most obnoxious one you can imagine. So in case you are after people who will offend you in the comments, ridicule and flame wars you have to embrace Reddit marketing. It's something like a social media fight club. I never asked for that attention but some of my posts have gained traction on Reddit and I had to fend off of the trolls each time.
I posted this in the comments of the post, but I figured it would be good to share here as well. --- This is a great read and you definitely seem to understand better than some of the other "marketers" who attempt to push their content into Reddit and suddenly gain thousands and thousands of views. However, there's one thing that you have to really keep in mind: luck. There are times when really good content hits r/new for any subreddit, and those 50~ people who see your submission in the first minute of its life? They're crucial. Even more crucial? What they decide to do with your submission. I've seen great content bomb the first time around, and someone will repost it after a certain amount of time and hit the front page. Reddit is a crapshoot sometimes, but glad to see you've mentioned the core of what it takes to succeed on there.
